Sponsor a Stone for our QLD Police Dogs
Would you like to sponsor a stone in honour of a current serving, or past servicing QPS Police Dog?
A memorial garden has been established on the grounds of the QPS Dogs Squad training facility in OXLEY. We now need your support to have the garden populated with the names of each dog who has served.
Queensland was home to one of the earliest known uses of police dogs in Australia, when they were first introduced for an experimental trial between 1912 and 1917. However it wasn't until 1972 that the dog squad as we know it commenced earning a reputation as an integral arm of effective state wide policing.
You can sponsor 1 or more dogs. You can also take advantage of the special "bulk rate" pricing and have a second stone created for you to display at home.
Alternatively, as a member of the general public you can sponsor past police dog(s) in your honour. In this case QPS Dog Squad will select one of the 400 dogs in your honour and you'll be sent the dogs name including a photo of the actual stone sponsored by you.
From 1912 to the present day, more than 400 canines have graduated from the QPS Dog Squad training facility.
Police dogs play an important role in today's policing. They work tirelessly in service to our community and so many of us have been touched by their work.
The memorial garden seeks to recognise the unconditional and loyal service that these dogs have played and continue to play in service of all Queenslanders. The stone you sponsor will be placed in the memorial garden and will ensure all the dogs trained and who served will be recognised.
