  • This was a special request where the customer requested NO paint be added to the engraved lettering. The result can vary dramatically. As a result we do not recommend this as most river stones have very little contrast between surface colour of the stone and the engraved surface. This results in many instances of not being able to easily make out the engraving. The engraving results significantly vary from stone to stone. Adding paint to the lettering allows the engraving to be more easily seen.
  • The formatting used in this stone results in the deepest engraving. Deep engraving on stone looks fabulous, its shows the 3 dimensional aspect of the object and ensures an "ever lasting" message.
  • Tumbled Riverstones are beautiful natural objects. There is a real resonance and kinetic attraction to naturally formed stones. They are objects we love to feel and touch. When deeply engraved they take on a special 3 dimensional quality. See the depth of engraving we can achieve. Keep this in mind when deciding on the amount of text you want engraved on your Tumbled Riverstone.
  • Our Tumbled Riverstones have room to comfortably fit 3 lines of content, with a maximum of 29 characters (this includes letters number and spaces). Typically a graphic, your pets name and date. This is our recommended formatting as it provides the best balance of the amount of text and depth of engraving result. Squeezing more text onto the stone results in crowded formatting and less depth of engraving. If you want to say more we recommend taking a look at our other markers which can fit more on them.
  • Here are the standard pet graphics available. The paw print graphics are quite popular, note that we have one with claws and one without. Which one? much debate has been had as to which one represents a cat and which one is a dog, ultimately the choice is yours. Select the graphic you feel will look best for your marker.

  • This example shows the standard or default font that is used on Tumbled Riverstones. We call this our "FORMAL" font and it is the default font used on all engraved Tumbled Riverstones. it provides consistent engraving results and is easy to read. Unless specified otherwise this font will be used in your engraving for both "name" and "date".
  • We have recently introduced another front for use on our Tumbled Riverstones. We call this font "Casual Font" and as the name suggests its a more casual informal script type of font. This font will only be used where you have specifically requested it. You can request this font by either writing your request on our order form or by using the "special instructions" section when ordering on our web site. Look at the examples in the photo gallery before requesting "Casual Font" as some of the letters have uncommon formatting. The casual font is also used where an epitaph appears below the name. See photo gallery for more examples of where casual font has been used in the epitaph.

  • When an epitaph is present in (place of a date) the casual font will be used as shown here. This is the standard and recommended formatting and still conforms to the 3 line standard.
  • We can comfortably fit 3 lines of text/graphics on a Tumbled Riverstone. if you have a special request let us know. we always do our best to accommodate any special requests. This customer wanted to add another heart in place of the date below the name. As with all special requests place these on your order form or in the "special instructions" section when ordering on our web site. Always supply your email address or telephone number just in case we have to confirm something with you.

  • Natural stones vary in colour, light to dark. Dark grey, light grey, brown and sandy colours are all typical. So is the texture and surface. Stone selection is determined by our engraver at the time of engraving and taking into accont the formating as a result we cannot provide colour matching requests and cannot guarentee the cololur of stone. Each stone is as unique and individual as your beloved pet.
