Introduction

Talking Stones provides cast bronze plaques for architectural, commemorative and commercial projects throughout Australia.

This guide provides material guidance, design requirements and installation considerations for architects, landscape architects, builders and councils preparing project documentation. Adapt the specification to suit the plaque design, location and project requirements, with final manufacturing details confirmed before production.

Material and Design Requirements

Material: Cast bronze.

Lettering: Raised gold-coloured lettering only. Recessed lettering and alternative lettering colours are not included in this specification.

Border: Raised gold-coloured border only. Alternative border colours are not included in this specification.

Background colour: Black as standard. Brown or other background colours are subject to availability and confirmation.

Dimensions: Subject to project requirements and manufacturing confirmation.

Plaque thickness: Subject to project requirements and manufacturing confirmation.

Fixing method: Subject to project requirements and manufacturing confirmation.

Suitable Applications

Cast bronze plaques may be specified for commemorative plaques, recognition signage, architectural installations and public spaces. Confirm the plaque design, dimensions and installation details to suit the intended location and project requirements.

Lettering, Border and Background

All lettering shall be raised and gold-coloured, with a raised gold-coloured border. Do not substitute recessed lettering or alternative lettering or border colours.

Specify a black background unless an alternative background colour has been confirmed. Brown and other background colours shall be subject to availability and approval before production.

Lettering size, wording, graphics, layout and border details shall be reviewed and confirmed through the artwork approval process.

Fixing and Installation Considerations

Fixing and installation details shall be nominated by the project designer to suit the plaque dimensions, mounting location, substrate and project requirements, and shall be subject to manufacturing confirmation.

Confirm whether the plaque is to be surface mounted, inset or incorporated into an architectural or landscape element. Confirm the proposed fixing arrangement, fixing positions and any supporting substrate before manufacture.

Final dimensions, plaque thickness, fixing details and installation responsibilities shall be agreed before production. Any supports or installation systems shall be suitable for the substrate and project requirements. Structural or installation requirements shall be assessed by an appropriately qualified project professional where required.

Artwork and Manufacturing Approval

All dimensions, wording, lettering, graphics, layouts, border details, background colours, plaque thickness and fixing requirements shall be confirmed before manufacture.

Final artwork must be submitted for approval before production commences. Manufacturing details shall be confirmed before production.

Ready-to-Use Architectural Specification

Architects and specifiers can copy the following wording into their project documentation and adjust project-specific requirements before issue. Confirm dimensions, plaque thickness, background colour and fixing details with Talking Stones before finalising the specification.

All dimensions, wording, lettering, graphics, layouts, background colours, border details, plaque thickness and fixing requirements shall be confirmed before manufacture. Final artwork shall be submitted for approval before production commences. Manufacturing details shall be confirmed before production.
